April 2019
“They seek him here, they seek him there" said Baroness Emmuska Orczy in the The Scarlet Pimpernel. Well, maybe 'they' would have fared a bit better if 'they' had got their recon on, for that was the theme of our April competition night, that of reconnaissance!
Also tonight, we had another informative and interesting lecture. This time, it was Stephen's turn to bedazzle and amaze us all on the subject of 3D printing and even brought along one of these new-fangled devices for us to look at in bedazzlement and amazement. A snazzy Power Point presentation accompanied the talk which was littered with such a bewildering array of terminology that bedazzlement soon gave way to befuddlement. Old dogs, new tricks, that sort of thing! Anyway, here's where you can see the wonderful things Stephen is producing with his printers and maybe even snap something up, and by that I mean buy it, not break it.
The overall results of the competition were:
1st - Bruce - 1/48 MiG-25 RBT
2nd - Kevin - 1/48 F1M2 'Pete'
3rd - Alastair - 1/144 SR-72 Blackbird
4th - Gary - 1/48 F1M2 'Pete'
5th - Neil - 1/48 Do-17
